My story on Bernie Dette, (St. Anthony Choir Director and he of huge lung capacity) is still being written. Unfortunately, I write every week for class so it is hard to write for pleasure. Look for it coming soon. Bernie is an interesting fellow.

"That less attention is sometimes paid to the devotion to the Blessed Sacrament indicates and causes an obscuration of the Christian meaning of the mystery, as happens when in Holy Mass it is no longer Jesus who appears pre-eminent and active but, rather, a community preoccupied with too many things instead of recollecting and letting itself be drawn towards the only One necessary: its Lord." (Pope Benedict XVI, Address to the Bishops of the North II Region of the Episcopal Conference of Brazil, 15/4/2010)

...and now the Necessaries

Please note: St. Anthony Catholic Church is one of two local churches celebrating the Traditional Latin Mass (EFLR) in the Wichita area. Though this blog is loosely centered around this parish and it's members, Venite Missa Est! is by no means, in any way an official voice of, or for, St. Anthony Parish or the Diocese of Wichita. Venite Missa Est! is strictly a private layman's endeavor.

Father Sawyer to Give Talks on de Montfort's "True Devotion to Mary"

On page 3 of the current issue (November 5) of The Catholic Advance you can find a short article about a four session class on St. Louis De Monfort's True Devotion to Mary to be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas by Fr. Sawyer.  This class will prepare people to make the total consecration to the IHM.
