The Traditional Latin Mass (Extraordinary Form of the Latin Rite) community of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Wichita, Ks., is undergoing historic changes...changes that have been prayed for over years and years.

..and now for the necessaries.
Please note: St. Anthony Catholic Church is the only church celebrating the Traditional Latin Mass (Extraordinary Form of the Latin Rite) in the Wichita diocese. Though this blog is loosely centered around this parish and it's members, Venite Missa Est! is by no means, in any way an official voice of, or for, St. Anthony Parish or the Diocese of Wichita. Venite Missa Est! is strictly a private layman's endeavor.

Upcoming Mass Information
Thanks Larry Bethel
Here are a couple of upcoming Masses;
This Thursday, Aug 15, is the Assumption, a Holy Day and Fr Jirak will celebrate Mass at 8 P.M. at St Anthony.
Fr Voelker will celebrate his first High Mass Sunday, Aug. 18, at 1 P.M. at St Anthony. This is the 13th Sunday after Pentecost.
Fr Voelker regrets he will not be hearing confessions before Mass this Sunday, this being his first Extraordinary Form Mass, he needs extra time to prepare.
After this Sunday confession before Mass is planned.

St. Anthony Latin Mass Community
Historic Changes in the Works
Blessings befalled the St. Anthony Latin Mass Community over the past weeks. For those who are unaware:
- Msngr. Hemberger commended the St. Anthony Latin Mass Community.
- Established the community as a canonically recognized chapel (note, not a parish)
- Father Jirac will take over as our pastor along with two other priests, one from Hutchinson, one from Wichita (sorry I forget the names....I am bad with names..I will post them).
- They will travel to Chicago to train at St. John Cantius for all the sacraments...
- We will have ALL the sacraments.
- We will have Holy days.
- We will have confessions before mass.
- Mass will be at 1 p.m. on Sundays.
- One low mass a month will remain.
There are tons of details that will still need to be worked out as this develops organically such as money issues, property, etc. For now we are to handle all issues of donations and parish affiliations as we have previous.
For some this is an issue that they cannot support as their schedules will not allow it (it IS right in the middle of the day), for some it is an acceptable burden, but as we have already seen at the first mass, for others it is an opportunity to come and discover the Extraordinary Form for the first time.
So many people have been praying for SO LONG for this kind of thing to happen.
Deo Gratias
